Purpose: Our goals are to: 1) Maintain and improve water quality in the Petitcodiac River and its watershed. 2) Maintain and improve ecosystem health in the Petitcodiac River and its watershed. 3) Develop strategies that support sustainable use of the watershed to provide drinking water, healthy aquatic ecosystems and economies for future generations. 4) Ensure water management and land use planning operate in a way that protects water resources and aquatic habitats.
Activities: - Water quality monitoring since 1997 - Water quality lab services - Swim Guide monitoring - Monitoring, restoration, and assessments for species at risk, biological indicators of environmental health, and invasive species - Environmental restoration and cleanups - Culvert assessments & fish passage solutions to restore species at risk habitat - Certified wetland assessments and delineations - Outreach & education to the public & schools - Stormwater management and awareness campaigns - Naturalized and green infrastructure - Microplastics awareness and reduction - Volunteer opportunities in scientific monitoring and community stewardship
