NBEN member groups are environmental non-profits that have as one of their prime objectives the enhancing or furthering of environmental quality, protecting the environment, or carrying out environmental education, and who agree with the mission and the goals of the NBEN. Associate members may also include any environmental committee of another organization. They will be featured at the top of all search results and their listings will have icons showing their active membership status. Look for the logo for local knowledge and resources!

Discover the fascinating worlds of owls in the “What’s for dinner?” workshop. How are owls different than other birds? How do they catch their prey? In this presentation students will learn about the adaptations that allow owls to be successful hunters. With the help of the digital microscope, students will dissect an owl pellet and identify the bones to discover the owl’s prey. Expect lots of “awws” and “ewwws!” Owl pellets not included in program pricing, additional 6$ per pellet.

During this school or classroom visit, students will be learning all about watersheds, what they are, how they function and who lives there. If the school property has the resource, we will visit a neighboring body of water or forested area to explore and connect with the flora and fauna who live there. Priority will be give to schools located within the Nashwaak watershed.

Water Rangers
Water Rangers est un organisme à but non lucratif basé en Ontario qui développe des outils faciles à utiliser pour tester la qualité de l'eau et partager des données avec tout le monde! Grâce à une subvention PromoScience du CRSNG, jusqu'à la fin de 2025, on a des testkits à donner aux éducateurs ou aux personnes qui les utiliseront à des fins éducatives avec des jeunes de moins de 18 ans. Ces testkits sont faciles à utiliser et donnent des résultats immédiatement sur le terrain!

EcoNova
Le projet consiste dans le démarrage des projets de classe par le biais d’ateliers sur des sujets environnementaux et climatiques. Pendant l’atelier (entre 45 et 60 minutes), les élèves sont introduits à des concepts environnementaux clés et aux sciences qui y sont liées et qui font partie du curriculum. À la fin de chaque atelier, les élèves disposent de connaissances théoriques et pratiques, ainsi que du matériel nécessaire pour poursuivre le projet.

Learning for a Sustainable Future’s 2022 “Canadians’ Perspectives on Climate Change and Education” survey of 6,500 parents, teachers, students and the general public found that 73% of Canadians feel that we are experiencing a climate emergency and 67% think schools need to give climate change education a high priority. Educators told us they are looking for effective ways to engage students in meaningful climate learning and action.

We grow a complete range of hardy fruits, ornamental shrubs and trees, vines and perennials. We grow without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. We have a range of activities that would be available for students to do on site. We have done apple picking, nursery tours, but are open to ideas for activities the kids could do here.

Les marches guidées sont d`une durée d'environs une heure et nous pouvons en offrir deux par groupe. Ce service éducatif est offert gratuitement pour les mois de mai, juin et septembre.
