Freshwater ecosystems and watersheds
The SBWA offers environmental presentations in the field based on the following themes :
- Biodiversity
- Water Quality and Aquatic Ecosystems
- Water Conservation and Stormwater Management
- Climate Change and Coastal Erosion
Each presentation is adapted to correspond to the science curriculum for grades 3 to 12.
Stonehammer UNESCO Global Geopark in class and field trip programs and workshops focus on the rock cycle and minerals "the building blocks of rock" which is curriculum-based hands-on learning. Students learn about the 3 rocks types and earth processes in a 1.5 hour hands-on workshop or a field trip near their school at one of our Geosites. Also highlighted is What is a UNESCO Global? And why Southern New Brunswick was designated as the First UNESCO Geopark in North America!

Students discover how plants and animals adapt to their environment by observing their special characteristics.
Les étudiants seront présentés au concept des cycles de vie et ils examineront le cycle de vie des libellules, des grenouilles, et des canards.
Students are introduced to the concept of life cycles and examine the life cycle of dragonflies, frogs and ducks.
Les élèves étudient différents types de sols en l’observation de la texture, de la couleur, de la granulométrie et la capacité de retenir l’eau.
Students investigate different types of soils by observing the texture, colour, particle size and ability to hold water.
Ce jeu interactif enseigne aux étudiants le développement soutenable des milieux humides du Canada.
This interactive floor game teaches youth about sustainable development of Canada’s wetlands.
Ce programme permettra aux élèves d’examiner les différentes propriétés de l’eau et les effets de ces propriétés sur la vie aux milieux humides.
Students investigate the properties of water and how these properties affect life in a wetland. The following properties will be examined: surface tension, adhesion, cohesion, solubility and density.
Épines dorsales, segments, écailles, pattes et plumes : voilà quelques-unes des caractéristiques que les élèves observeront en examinant de véritables spécimens de milieux humides pour y voir directement plusieurs des principaux groupes (phylums) du règne animal.
