Learning Outside - using nature as a teaching tool and inspiration

The Conservation Council's Learning Outside project encourages teachers to teach existing curriculum outside. We are available to lead outdoor educational activities linked to curriculum. We base our activities on the needs of teachers and their students and highlight the natural features on and near their school grounds, as well as seasonal happenings in nature. We lead games and activities on themes including habitats, food chains and food webs, NB trees and plants, adaptations to winter (animals and plants), pollinators, birds, frogs, ecosystems, wetlands, Atlantic salmon, and more. So far, we've worked primarily with K-5 and K-8 schools, but also welcome opportunities to work with middle school and high school teachers and classes and have been developing activities and materials for these levels. We can also help schools develop/enhance outdoor learning spaces.
More information on our project and a growing number of educational activities and materials can be found on our website: www.learningoutside.ca
