At The Gaia Project, we use a unique approach to empower youth, K-12, to take action. We incorporate inquiry-based education, curriculum links, and local action in each of our projects.

"Fairlight Farm & Forest Centre is run by Leah ""Sparrow"" Houghton, who has extensive teaching experience in outdoor settings and specializes in survival skills and farm animals. The many farm animals (horses, pigs, chickens, cow, goats, pony) are a big draw, as children can participate in chores and learn about livestock care and food security. The farm also has an outdoor classroom and multiple camps in the 40 acres of mixed hardwood/softwood forest and a stream for exploring.
New Brunswick is lucky to experience relatively clean air, but it remains a growing threat. More people are turning to wood-burning heating options to save money, and climate change is driving hotter, drier summers with more intense wildfires. As we've seen in the summer of 2023, the smoke from these fires can travel thousands of kilometres!
Air pollution affects everyone - especially children. Kids’ lungs are still developing. They breathe more quickly than adults, which means they breathe more air, and more air pollution.
