Purpose: DataStream Initiative is a registered Canadian charity dedicated to advancing freshwater protection through open data flows. Our mission is to promote knowledge sharing and collaborative water stewardship, so our waters remain healthy for generations to come.
Our core programming includes an online platform for sharing water quality data (Atlantic DataStream), data management and water science training, network building, and advocacy to promote open access to environmental data in Canada.
Activities: DataStream brings people and data together to protect freshwater. Our primary activities include:
Open data platform - DataStream’s free and open data platform provides a place to share and access water quality data.
Community building - DataStream convenes across sectors and watersheds and amplifies community science so that it can be used in decision-making at all levels.
Education - DataStream fosters knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices for managing and sharing water data.
