Upstream/downstream watershed program

During this outdoor field trip, students will visit the Marysville Flats located in Marysville, New Brunswick, to learn about watersheds and thier inhabitants. Students will learn about what watersheds are and how they work through games, story telling and exploration of the Marysville flats restoration site. Topics touched on will be flooding, erosion, plant adaptations and ecosystem services. After learning about restoration techniques used by the Nashwaak Watershed Association, students will then get to go "crtitter dipping" for benthic macroinvertebrates to learn about water quality and the importance of keeping our watersheds healthy. Priority will be given to schools located within the Nashwaak watershed.
