Sortie scolaire - en plein air
Using some of the walking trails on the 1100 acre Meduxnekeag Valley Nature Preserve, we demonstrate the sort of experience we can offer to classes from K-12, including both nature walks and science workshops. This is primarily for teachers in ASD-W, where class busing costs are picked up by the District directly, but may also be worthwhile for teachers in other parts of the Province who may be able to access a comparable local resource.
The Centre of Excellence for Energy works with energy sector partners to offer tours of energy facilities (power plants, energy infrastructure) to High School Students in New Brunswick. "Fairlight Farm & Forest Centre is run by Leah ""Sparrow"" Houghton, who has extensive teaching experience in outdoor settings and specializes in survival skills and farm animals. The many farm animals (horses, pigs, chickens, cow, goats, pony) are a big draw, as children can participate in chores and learn about livestock care and food security. The farm also has an outdoor classroom and multiple camps in the 40 acres of mixed hardwood/softwood forest and a stream for exploring.
