The Conservation Council's Learning Outside project helps teachers integrate hands-on, outdoor learning into existing curriculum across every subject area in K-12 classes. We base our sessions on the needs of teachers and their students and use our programming to highlight natural features on or near their school grounds, including local species and seasonal happenings in nature. We offer modules on a variety of themes including habitats, food chains and food webs, NB trees and plants, animal adaptations to winter, pollination, Atlantic salmon, NB ecosystems, mindfulness, and sustainable community action. Many of our modules have different levels specifically catering to the ASD curriculum links for the primary, elementary, middle, and high school blocks. We are currently working on building out DSF links for our modules, as well as modules specifically focused on helping newcomer youth feel more comfortable and confident exploring New Brunswick's natural areas.
More information on the Learning Outside project, including current modules, booking links, and a growing number of educational activities and materials can be found on our website: https://www.conservationcouncil.ca/learning-outside/
