Students investigate different types of soils by observing the texture, colour, particle size and ability to hold water.
This interactive floor game teaches youth about sustainable development of Canada’s wetlands.
Students investigate the properties of water and how these properties affect life in a wetland. The following properties will be examined: surface tension, adhesion, cohesion, solubility and density.
Students examine real wetland specimens to see first-hand many of the major phylum of the animal kingdom. Backbones, segments, scales, legs and feathers are some of the things that are observed.
Experience wetlands through an animal’s eyes. Take an up-close and personal look at interesting characteristics of turtles and beavers.
Learn how to identify animals by what they leave behind. Then use your investigative skills to solve a wetland mystery. You’ll even get to make your own copy of an animal track!

The Conservation Council's Learning Outside project encourages teachers to teach existing curriculum outside. We are available to lead outdoor educational activities linked to curriculum. We base our activities on the needs of teachers and their students and highlight the natural features on and near their school grounds, as well as seasonal happenings in nature. We lead games and activities on themes including habitats, food chains and food webs, NB trees and plants, adaptations to winter (animals and plants), pollinators, birds, frogs, ecosystems, wetlands, Atlantic salmon, and more.
